JH: “I’ve long been interested in the idea of the camera as a malevolent force and the malevolent photographer behind it. Maybe it’s the students I remember from art school who got into photography to ‘meet girls’ or the legacy of all the Bob & Terry Richardson’s of this world. But most likely it’s the sheer glut of that kind of imagery. Instagram and Pinterest are awash with it. As you get older the sheer undeniable scale of it sickens you. It seems the macho camera has a voracious appetite - literally eating girls up and producing nothing in return.”
